  3. Tilton over the years

    1985

    Foundation of the company

    Les Plastiques Tilton was founded in a 5,000 ft.2 factory in Loretteville, a suburb of Quebec City.

    1988

    First expansion

    Tilton moved to a 30,000 ft.2 building in Lévis, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. The first line of CPET containers for Tilpak prepared meals was launched.

    1996

    Tooling Department

    Tilton developed its expertise in tooling and mould making. A new department was created. First step in vertical integration.

    1999

    Technological progress

    Tilton acquires its first thermoforming equipment with integrated robotics.

    2004

    Expansion and robotization

    Tilton inaugurated a new plant in St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, a suburb of Quebec City, which is seamlessly integrated into a wooded environment. The 40,000 ft.2 state-of-the-art, highly robotized plant allowed Tilton to double its production capacity.

    2006

    Launch of the Biogo range

    The Biogo line was launched. These compostable packages were a first in Canada. Our new extrusion department was housed in a 25,000 ft.2 expansion. This was a key step in Tilton's vertical integration strategy to control its entire manufacturing process.

    2012

    Machine tools and new ecofriendly products

    Tilton increased its tooling department production space with the acquisition of several automated machine tools. Major investment in thermoforming equipment. Launch of our first range of 50% recycled content packaging from recovered plastic bottles.

    2017

    Digital transformation and new expansion

    It was the dawn of a new technological era at Tilton: digital transformation. Plant 4.0 allows for unparalleled operational efficiency and real-time monitoring of thermoforming and extrusion production. Tilton continued to grow as 35,000 ft.2 were added to the thermoforming department and our automated warehouse.

    2020

    Ecoresponsible innovation

    Investment in state-of-the-art extrusion equipment allowing the use of 100% recycled material from selective collection.

    2021

    Major expansion

    Tilton added 45,000 ft.2 to its facilities. A new generation of robots doubled production capacity and a new fully automated warehouse was opened. The company's site reached 150,000 ft.2.
