Tilton products are made from materials that are 100% recycled or certified compostable. Production waste and offcuts are reintroduced into the production system.
Tilton’s current continuous improvement process includes implementation of a recovery and composting system.
Tilton’s manufacturing equipment is powered by 100% renewable energy, particularly hydro-electricity. Our factories are also equipped with high-performance energy networks which include heat recovery and free cooling systems. Water used in these processes circulates in a closed system, which thus does not bring in new natural water or discharge refuse into the environment.
Our environmental and social values can be seen in the importance we attach to the choice of the sites where our factories are located. Key criteria we draw on when making these choices include existing fauna and flora in the locale and the quality of life of our workers.

Subject to anaerobic or aerobic biological decomposition through the actions of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi and algae) under natural conditions.
Is degradable during composting through biological processes, during which it produces levels of CO2, water, inorganic compounds and biomass that are comparable with levels produced by other composted materials under commercial or industrial conditions, and which leave no visible, recognizable or toxic residue. Compostable plastics must comply with ASTM-D6400.
A multi-stage process through which a chemical additive initiates the material degradation, a process which is accelerated by sunlight, heat and / or mechanical stress, and the residues of which may disappear through biodegradation after a certain time.
